Thermal Glove Donation

05 Sep 2006

The Worshipful Company of Glovers, one of the ancient Livery Companies of the City of London, recently made a presentation of thermal gloves to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). A total of 135 pairs, including waterproof neoprene divers' gloves and thermal fabric gloves, sourced and manufactured respectively by BGA member, Bennett Safetywear Ltd, were donated by the Worshipful Company for use by lifeboat crews on operational duties.

The RNLI www.rnli.org.uk is a charity that provides a 24-hour lifesaving service around the UK and Republic of Ireland. It relies on donations to carry on saving lives at sea. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboats have saved more than 137,000 lives. In 2005 alone RNLI lifeboats rescued 8,104 people - an average of 22 people per day. RNLI Lifeguards assisted 9,930 people.
