

John Spanner TD., CC, past Master of the Worshipful Company of Glovers has been elected President of the British Glove Association, after being nominated by the past President, Lt Col Roderick Morriss.
John Spanner worked for Standard Chartered Bank in the City from 1963 to 2000, retiring as Group Head of Purchasing with responsibility for purchasing all goods and services worldwide.
He has been member of the Court of Common Council since 1984; for the Ward of Broad Street 1984-2000, and for Farringdon Without since 2001.
He joined the Worshipful Company of Glovers in 1982. He was Elected to the Court of Assistants 1994 and served as Master between 2002-2003.
Commenting on his new appointment, John Spanner said: "I am honoured and delighted to be elected as the President of the BGA. The Association has a vital role to play in promoting its members’ interests, and in obtaining the true recognition that the glove manufacturers, suppliers and retailers warrant. I intend to ensure that I play a full part in this task."
