Glove fashions come and go but one man who has seen more trends than most is Kohn Cundick.
John (76) has worked for iconic accessory company Dents for an amazing 60 years. He joined the famous fashion accessory company in 1949.
His early memories as a post boy would send modern health and safety experts into a spin – there were open fires burning coke, heavy boxes to lift, just two weeks holiday a year and even a wide open well just outside the door which employees had to step over to get to work.
Typewriters and sewing machine that are now museum pieces were commonplace in the factory, and words that have long been relegated to history were part of the everyday language that John spoke in those days.
“Holidays were just a day’s outing to Weymouth,” he said. “We used to all pile into the charabanc, it had hard wooden seats but we loved it. It was a great day out.”
